We were delighted when professional gardener Suzie Nicholson visited a couple of weeks ago and spoke to Barry, our Volunteer Coordinator. She shared ideas on how we could make the communal garden at Crossways into a lovely space for residents and staff to relax and spend some time together.

We thought this was especially important following our signing of a long-term lease on the building. We have also seen how therapeutic gardening can be for our residents

Suzie was back this week with her tools, pots and bulbs to start putting those ideas into action. We can’t wait to see the first shoots appear in the Spring.

A three photo montage showing Suzie talking to Barry, pouring some top soil into a large flower pot and using extendable lopers to trim a large tree in the courtyard at Crossways

We thank Suzie again for volunteering her time and expertise to support those experiencing homelessness in Cambridge.

If you have a skill, particularly around arts, crafts or music and you’d be willing to provide activities for our residents, please contact us at volunteer@itac.org.uk
