Earlier this year, we were honoured to be chosen by Cambridge Building Society (The Cambridge) to be a Community Partner, alongside Jimmy’s and Emmaus Cambridge.

The Cambridge felt that our work closely aligned with their ESG aims. They had previously funded our Street Storage pilot project via the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation.

Carole Charter, CCO at The Cambridge said ‘We know how challenging it is for charities and other organisations to find financial support, and so we’re delighted to partner with It Takes A City, a charity which shares our core values of helping people have a home’.

We have seen this partnership grow month by month.

Staff volunteered to help get our Street Storage project ready as part of their Making The Difference scheme. Others volunteered at The Haven, including support of our first anniversary event. We regularly share other opportunities and really value the help they provide.

Additional funding enabled us to provide a safe place for three Crossways residents who were facing a return to the streets, where they would be especially vulnerable. This meant our Survive & Thrive service was able to continue assisting with their applications for settled status.

Our CEO, Elisabeth Silver, and Coordinator, Matt Nelson, visited local branches and attended two conferences, giving staff a chance to ask questions and find out how much their support means to us.

This Christmas we are looking forward to donations received via their ‘Giving Tree’ campaign.

We think this is a great example of how the business community can support us to achieve our shared goal of ending homelessness in Cambridge.
