Volunteers are the heart of everything we do. Your kindness, commitment, and passion help us support those experiencing homelessness in Cambridge.
In return, we offer a safe, welcoming space where you can grow, connect, and feel valued.
Whether you are 18 or 80, experienced or just starting out, your time and skills can change lives, including your own. There is a place for you at It Takes A City.
Due to the nature of our work, we are unable to offer volunteer opportunities to anyone under 18.
Current Opportunities
We are looking for volunteers to fill the following roles at Crossways, our winter emergency accommodation project:
- Lead Cook
- Mealtime Assistant
- Food Collection/Delivery Drivers
- Early Evening Host
- Weekend Daytime Host
- Weekday Housekeeper

The Haven, our overnight, city centre space for vulnerable and homeless women, are looking for:
