‘Peter’ is in his 50s and originally from Romania. Although he had worked intermittently, Peter’s challenges round binge drinking meant he had lost accommodation on several occasions and ended up on the streets.

Peter was already known to our staff before coming into Crossways. He was friends with other Romanians whom we had previously supported, so there was a strong element of trust that we could help him.

With encouragement from our team, Peter began to address his drinking, and although there were a few slip-ups, his bingeing became less frequent. Peter even found some employment whilst with us.

Peter was given the opportunity to move into a flat as part of the City Council’s Rough Sleeper Accommodation Programme, where he continues to be supported by our Survive & Thrive service and the Council’s Accommodation Sustainment Team. We used our network to help Peter furnish the flat with everything needed to make it feel like ‘Home’.
