‘Darren’ is in his early forties and had exclusions from multiple services in the city and had been sleeping rough by the river in Cambridge for a prolonged period.

In November 2023, despite reservations around his ability to comply with our conditions of stay, Darren moved into the Crossway Winter Provision.

Upon its closure in April 2024, we accommodated Darren in a hotel for a month, until a room became free at a hostel that had agreed to accept him, after we secured agreement from the City Council to pay off a proportion of his arrears from an earlier stay.

In December 2024 Darren moved into one of the modular homes constructed by the It Takes A City Community Land Trust, our sister charity.  Survive and Thrive provided the support during his stay at the home.

In May 2025, we referred Darren to the City Council for a priority banding on the council Home-link system, which allows people to bid for social tenancy.  In October 2025, Darren moved into a council tenancy.
