We are grateful to Shelley Belgrove, Clinical Director and co-founder at well:o, for her support in helping our residents at Crossways with their oral health. Shelley said of her recent visit:

Thank you for welcoming me this morning. It was a pleasure to spend time with your team and speak with residents about oral health. Learning more about your programme and the support you provide for people experiencing homelessness in Cambridge was inspiring.

Some of the conversations were also difficult to hear. Many shared how challenging it is to access NHS dental care, and how long waits or limited availability have left them feeling they have nowhere to turn. No one should ever feel forced to manage dental pain alone.

This isn’t because dentists don’t want to see NHS patients; it’s because the current contract makes it extremely difficult to deliver the level of care required in a safe, sustainable way.

Spending the morning with your residents was a powerful reminder of how important the simple things in life really are: family, friends, a warm home, and the security of a roof over your head. These are things many of us take for granted every day.

I’m grateful to organisations like It Takes A City who continue to offer dignity, compassion, and practical support to those who need it most”.

Our team at Crossways are always looking for opportunities to work with businesses and organisations who can provide support for our residents’ health and wellbeing. Do contact us to find out more.
