We can help you to help others

25/04/2022

Do you have some money, items or time that you’d like to donate but don’t know where to start?

This week, as part of our ‘3 Streets’ campaign, we focus on the ‘Give Help’ section of the Street Support Cambridgeshire (SSC) website.

Organisations listed on SSC are able to promote volunteering opportunities, specify the types of items they need or how the public can donate money. There are currently over sixty ‘needs’ registered on the site.

One organisation offering volunteering opportunities is FoodCycle Cambridge. They’re a local group which uses surplus food from supermarkets to cook delicious free community meals.

“The project is only made possible with the great volunteers giving their time, enthusiasm and energy”

Using the SSC ‘Give Help’ section, you will see that FoodCycle is looking for three types of volunteers. People to help cook, people to host the meals and people to collect food from the supermarkets.

Clicking on the ‘I Can Help’ button will give further information about what is needed. You can then offer to help, or learn more about the organisation itself, all through the SSC website.

Not only is SSC an essential place for homeless and vulnerable people to access up-to-date information on services available, but also a powerful tool to allow organisations to advertise volunteering and donation drives locally.
