Simple Idea Needs Your Support

24/08/2023

I recently had a coffee and catch up with Todd Mackintosh, the founder and driving force behind the amazing Bare Necessities charity.

Growing up in a household where his parents regularly volunteered for local homeless charities, Todd listened and learned from those experiencing life on the streets. He understood how having access to clean underwear and socks gave them a feeling of self-worth. Todd saw this as matter of basic human rights and dignity.

Todd started Bare Necessities with one simple aim. He would ask the community for help through small, regular donations and use these funds to bulk buy men’s and women’s underwear and socks for distribution to those in need via groups like It Takes A City. We can vouch for the difference it has made at Crossways, our winter emergency accommodation project.

“Over £11,000 spent on providing comfort to those in need”

The figures speak for themselves.

Since June 2020, Bare Necessities have donated an incredible 17,737 items to groups such as Wintercomfort, Jimmy’s, Caring for Cambridge Homeless, 3 Pillars, Bury Drop In and It Takes A City. That’s over £11,000 spent on providing comfort to those in need!

Now Todd needs the support of individuals and businesses in Cambridge to expand and grow this simple community response.

If you can spare a couple of pounds a month, please consider joining www.teamdignity.org. Every penny raised is spent on providing more socks, pants and bras.

If you are a local business that would like to partner with Bare Necessities, please contact Todd (todd@bare-necessities.charity) to discover more about his vision for the future.
