ITAC At Freshers' Fair

12/10/2023

It’s been fantastic to see so many students keen to learn more about homelessness and how they can help to end it in Cambridge. Just Love, Embrace and Cambridge Students’ Union, kindly displayed our flyers and talked to those attending this years’ Freshers’ Fair about our work.

ITAC has been working alongside various groups to share information, support and advice with students who would like to get involved with local organisations. We put together a dedicated flyer for students to highlight four main areas:

  1. How to help someone who is at risk of or already experiencing homelessness
  2. How to help someone sleeping rough
  3. Everyday support you can direct people towards
  4. If you want to help financially
“I am very glad that I volunteered there, it felt like a really worthwhile use of my time”

As many students are new to the city, we’re keen to share information about the reasons why people lead a street-based lifestyle and the network of organisations working to support homeless and vulnerably housed people.

We hold regular talks for student groups and are always happy to attend meetings or arrange presentations.

Chris and Matt will be speaking at the ‘Just Lunch’ on Monday 16th October 1-2pm at Magdalene College.

We have an upcoming event titled ‘Students against homelessness: supporting our rough sleeping neighbours and ending homelessness in Cambridge’ which we are inviting people to on Thursday 16th November 7-8.30pm (location TBC).

Thank you to Just Love, Embrace and the Cambridge SU for sharing our flyers. If you’d like to work with us, please get in touch itacinfo@ittakesacity.org.uk
