A Wintercomfort worker helps a service user on a computerMany of you will have heard of Wintercomfort. They have provided vital support to people who are rough sleeping or vulnerably housed in Cambridge since 1991.

Based at Overstream House on Victoria Avenue, Wintercomfort are located just a short distance from Crossways and many of our guests were already known to their staff and volunteers. Having a secure place at Crossways meant they were able to visit Wintercomfort during the day, whether to enjoy a meal, use the computers, seek housing advice or just socialise and have a chat.

Melody Brooker, Fundraising & Communications Manager at Wintercomfort, spoke about Crossways guest ‘T’ who had initially visited Overstream House to eat lunch. He began volunteering every day in the kitchen, telling the team how being around others had given him a sense of connection and purpose.

Wintercomfort logoGuests and staff at Crossways have always benefitted enormously from the wide range of advice and support available from the team at Wintercomfort.  Whether during outreach visits to Crossways or during our guests’ visits to Overstream House we can be confident that the best advice and support is being offered to those that we accommodate and the collaboration between our organisations has helped many people on their Streets to Home journey.”  Chris Dade, ITAC Services Manager

The team at Wintercomfort were always ready to work in partnership to help our guests make the best choices and we greatly valued their support throughout the winter.
