Helping Guests Stay Connected

09/11/2022

We were delighted when Sue Gowling, founder of Laptops4Learning, visited Crossways recently to deliver another batch of refurbished smartphones to Chris Dade, our services manager. The phones will enable guests to stay connected to family, friends and other sources of support.

This is part of a new project between It Takes A City (ITAC), Laptops4Learning and Wintercomfort, who will be providing unlimited data as part of the National Databank scheme administered by the Good Things Foundation.

Those receiving the phones will also be given advice on where they can find digital skills support.

People experiencing homelessness are often excluded from the benefits of being online, whether through having no phone, no data, or even any way to recharge their device.  ITAC continue to work with the Coproduction Group, including those with current lived experience, to find innovative and sustainable ways to ensure this situation improves.

“People experiencing homelessness are often excluded from the benefits of being online”

Laptops4Learning continue to support not just those who are homeless or vulnerably housed, but also refugees and local families or individuals in need of digital support.
