Help From Hidden Heroes

23/02/2023

Crossways has provided safety and dignity, with our guests staying in their own ensuite rooms, since we opened for a second winter last November. We will remain open until the end of March.

We have received many wonderful donations and are grateful for each and every one. This week, we wanted to highlight some of our hidden heroes for the support they have provided to the project.

Beth Shalom Reform Synagogue for their help in getting the microwave replaced when the one in use broke down. We also thank them for funding that supports guests in moving on.

Companions of the Order of Malta delivered presents that, along with generous donations including clothes and snacks from St Bene’ts, helped make Christmas special.

“Every donation makes a real difference”

New Life Church made an initial donation of toilet rolls and St Barnabas continue to supply us with stocks of the same, whilst St Andrew’s Chesterton have organised daily deliveries of bread and milk since we opened. These donations not only save us money, but time that our team can spend supporting guests.

Our amazing volunteer kitchen team prepare daily hot meals using food from a network of sources. Thanks go to Cambridge Sustainable Food for including us in their Christmas appeal, that provided £1200, as well as items for food parcels.

Food Cycle and Abbey Hub have shared surplus food with us, ensuring that nothing goes to waste.

If you would like to support our guests at Crossways, we have prepared this list of items.
