Interim CEO Appointed

18/10/2022

We were delighted when Lis Silver was appointed in September as the first Interim CEO for It Takes A City (ITAC).  Lis is not new to the organisation and has been working as our Charity Manager for the last 16 months.  This post has been introduced to enable Chris Jenkin, founder of the charity and Chair of Trustees to have a well-earned sabbatical for the last 3 months of the year.

Lis will continue in her previous part time role and will add an additional day a week, taking on responsibility for operational leadership. We asked Lis for her thoughts.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to take a step up in running ITAC.  I have loved working for the charity and am looking forward to all the opportunities and challenges that this new role offers”.

“It is a busy time as we look to reopen Crossways, our emergency winter accommodation. This was a very successful project last year and we anticipate that it will be even busier this winter.  We are very excited to again be partnering with Cambridge Churches Homelessness Project (CCHP), the City Council and other agencies”.

“There are lots of other new initiatives coming through, often rooted in the initial conversations held at the 2018 Homelessness Summit that led to the setting up of ITAC”.

“We are a small organisation, but by working in partnership it is exciting to see the work of our Action Groups moving from talking to action, including the provision of a safe space for women at night and additional modular units for rough sleepers on meanwhile land”.

“Enormous thanks to our wonderful supporters, volunteers and partners without whom none of this would be possible. I am looking forward to getting to know many of you over the next few months”.

The staff and trustees wish Lis every success.
